SRS on the American League

2010/04/26

I thought this was something worthwhile to look at on an off-day.

Simple Rating System comes from Baseball Reference and it has two components, run differential (Rdiff) and strength of schedule (SOS). It’s pretty um, simple that way, but I’ll take this over silly and subjective power rankings the national sports media churns out every week or so. BtB’s power rankings however are pretty darn cool.

SRS is explained in more detail here.

Except for the Twins, the AL Central is looking pretty pitiful. The White Sox losing 5 out of 6 against the Indians stings a little more after looking at this rating, but some of the edge of that sting is taken away by the recent sweep of Seattle.
